About Us

The Team

Eye examinations are the cornerstone of any opticians. Whether you are worried about a problem or just feel that you would like a check-up, Martin Johnson Opticians can offer you the individual service that you want, tailored to match your needs.

Louise Gordon

Owner & Optometrist

Louise qualified as an Optometrist in 1993. She worked in London and New Zealand before moving to Sheffield to join Martin Johnson Opticians in 1999. After 20 years at the practice, Louise was very excited to become a director of the business as Martin retired from clinical work in 2019.

As one of the first Optometrists in Sheffield to roll out the PEARS scheme, Louise is passionate about patient eyecare. Among her personal interests are contact lenses and dry eye and she is keen to keep the business moving forward with the latest technologies whilst maintaining the very high standard of service that Martin Johnson Opticians has always provided.

Louise was delighted to have been able to refurbish the consulting rooms this year and acquire the newly launched Myah topographer for dry eye and specialist contact lenses/myopia control.

Martin Johnson

Owner

In the 1980s Martin decided to start his own practice in his home town of Sheffield. He has enjoyed 30 plus years of providing optical care to his patients. However due to ongoing health issues he has had to retire from clinical practice, but still remains a part of the team.

“I have always been very lucky to have wonderful staff and feel very confident the practice will continue to flourish under the guidance of Louise and Paula. Thanks again to everyone, patients and staff for making my career such a pleasure, I’ll miss you all.”

Paula Hobson

Owner & Dispensing Optician

Paula began working at Martin Johnson Opticians as a Saturday girl at the age of 17. She qualified as a Dispensing optician in 1996 and, aside from a brief break to broaden her experience and start a family, she has worked with Martin ever since.

She became Practice Manager in 2012 and at the end of 2019 was thrilled to become a director alongside Louise. She has worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic to keep the practice running in these challenging times.

Sheffield born and bred, Paula believes in providing a great personal and professional service to the local community, treating every patient as an individual and with dignity and respect.
